The Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As) is launching the “Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Awareness Workshop”, one of an ongoing series of training events designed to improve business effectiveness through Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
The 3-hour virtual workshop unbundles the various aspects of DEI in an organisation through the discussion of topics such as “Why is gender equality important in business?” and “How can the WEPs grow businesses?”
“Following the launch of the IPA Diversity & Inclusion Essentials Certificate in May 2022, the WEPs Awareness Workshop is the next step in fulfilling the 4As commitment to roll out a structured and strategic DEI plan to educate local member agencies on what DEI truly is, what it means and how to implement it not only in their internal workings but also in the campaigns that they create,” said Nizwani Shahar, 4As Vice President, and mentor and industry partner with LeadWomen and UN Women.
“Striving to increase workplace diversity is not an empty slogan – it is in fact a good business decision. Since many organisations and businesses know the ‘Why’, this is now a step towards ‘How’,” added Nizwani.
The workshop will be conducted by Dr Tsee Leng Choy, Director of Research and Content at LeadWomen. LeadWomen was established in 2011 to increase female representation in senior leadership and on the boards of corporate Malaysia. Their work covers advocacy, training, and development, to guide companies and businesses in shifting focus to inclusion strategies in the workplace that can ensure retention and progression of diverse talents.
A prelude to the workshop will be a “Gender Analysis Tool” which organisations can use to help assess and view the relative areas of strength and improvement in diversity across their own Agency’s business.
As part its contribution to the industry and the marketing community, 4As is sponsoring the workshop for 4As members, and also opening it up to other associations such as the Malaysian Advertisers Association (MAA), Media Specialists Association (MSA), and Malaysian Digital Association (MDA).
The WEPs Awareness Workshop will be conducted online on 20 July 2022 from 9am to 12pm. Registration is limited to 3 participants per company, via https://bit.ly/WEPs4As
