The 4As alliance along with the Chartered Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) enables Member access to the portfolio of award winning qualifications and bespoke agency training programs conducted by IPA’s top UK “endorsed trainers”.

EMPLOYEE SCHOLARSHIPS

Member employees are able to attain globally recognized advertising qualifications from the annual 4As scholarships for the :

  • IPA Advance Certified in Effectiveness 
  • IPA Digital Performance Certificate
  • IPA Effectiveness Essentials

These award winning qualifications are developed and written by top industry practitioners. Not academics.

SUBSIDISED REGISTRATION FEES

Members receive between 20% to 40% reduction on non-member fees to attend 4As hosted seminars and workshops, including fees for the IPA qualifications.

SUBSIDISED AWARD ENTRY FEES

Members enjoy a rate that is between 40% to 60% lower than a non-member for entry fees into the Effie and Kancil awards competition.

COST REIMBURSEMENT – PITCH PRESENTATIONS

The 4As Pitch Disbursement By-Laws enable Members who are not successful in a competitive pitch to receive a partial reimbursement for Agency costs to develop the pitch presentation. Advertisers due to this By-Laws are deterred from inviting more than the 4As recommended three or four Agencies for a pitch.

BEST PRACTICE GUIDES

Members have access to industry best practice guides on Fair Agency Remuneration, Contracts, Finding An Agency and more as the 4As builds its library of relevant guides.

NETWORKING

Members have access to industry platforms to help influence Government regulators on advertising rules. Also to directly play an active role to safeguard interests within the industry.

SALARY AND CHARGE OUT RATES SURVEY

Members who participate in the 4As surveys gain free access to classified findings on:

(a) Average salaries across an extensive range of agency positions. This enables Agency management to confidently establish competitive remuneration to help retain/recruit valued employees.

(b) Benchmarks for the charge out rates/fees for chargeable Agency positions, plus a benchmark of the key drivers used to establish these rates (e.g. chargeable hours, overhead recovery, profit).

Ordinary Members shall be companies or firms whose principal business objectives are to create, maintain and enhance the value of its clients’ brands and business through advertising, marketing communications or marketing services in Malaysia. The Council shall consider upgrading an Associate Member who has completed two (2) years as an Associate Member to that of an Ordinary Member provided that the Associate Member, who in the opinion of the Council, had during the two years as an Associate Member, observed the provisions of the Rules of the Association (as maybe amended from time to time) and all other rules, regulations and By-Laws of the Association for the time being in force.  Ordinary Members shall have full power to vote at all Association meetings. 

The applicant company or firm is required to demonstrate its professional competence as an organization concerned primarily with providing strategic advice on marketing communications, creating and/or placing advertising.  

Applicants must show that it maintains an independent judgement in professional matters. It is not directly nor indirectly controlled by an advertiser or group of advertisers whose advertising it handles; or by concerns interested in the sale of advertising media or services. 

The applicant should be in the business long enough to establish its experience and financial stability. 

Any applicant for Ordinary Membership shall have a paid up capital of RM50,000. In the event an Associate Member is upgraded to an Ordinary Member, it should increase its paid up capital to RM50,000 from the date of the Council approving the upgrade of the member. 

Applicants must satisfy such other admission criterias that’s applied to Ordinary Members, as determined by the Association.

Associate Members shall be companies or firms whose principal business objectives is to create, maintain and enhance the value of its clients’ brands and business through advertising, marketing communications or marketing services in Malaysia and applications will be considered from those agencies who have been engaged in such activities for at least one year. The applicant is required to submit their latest audited accounts. The Council will consider upgrading their membership to Ordinary Member provided it has been in practice and has been an Associate Member for at least two years and who in the opinion of the Council had during the two years as an Associate Member, observed the provisions of the Rules of the Association (as maybe amended from time) to time and all other rules , regulations and By-Laws of the Association for the time being in force. Associate Members shall not be entitled to vote at Association meetings.

Agencies are required to complete two years of probation as an Associate Member.
In accordance with Clause 4(b)(i) of the Rules of the Association, Members are eligible to be upgraded to Ordinary Member, if they meet the Boomerang points requirement and comply with the minimum paid-up capital of RM50,000.
