Agencies are required to achieve the following in order to renew their Membership:
- Less than 15 full time staff (200 BMAP points)
- More than 15 but less than 25 (300 BMAP points)
- More than 25 but less than 75 (500 BMAP points)
- More than 75 staff (750 BMAP points)

Agencies have to complete two years of probation as Associate Members.
In accordance with Clause 4 (b) (i) of the Rules of the Association, Members deemed eligible to be upgraded to Ordinary Member, commitment to meet the Boomerang points and comply with the minimum paid-up capital of Ringgit Fifty Thousand RM 50,000.
(i) Associate Members shall be companies or firms engaged primarily in the advertising agency business in Malaysia and applications will be considered from those agencies who have been engaged in such activities. Council will consider upgrading their membership to Ordinary Member provided it has been in practice primarily as an advertising agency and has been an Associate Member for at least two years and who in the opinion of the Council, had during the two years as an Associate Member, observed the provisions of the Rules of the Association (as maybe amended from time to time) and all other rules,regulations and By-Laws of the Association for the time being in force. Associate Members shall not be entitled to vote at Association meetings.
(ii) An Associate member shall have a paid up capital of Ringgit Ten Thousand (RM10,000)
(iii) The applicant must satisfy all the admission criteria applicable to Associate Members as determined by the Association.
(i) Ordinary Members shall be companies or firms engaged primarily in the advertising agency business in Malaysia. The Council shall consider upgrading an Associate Member who has completed two (2) years as an Associate Member, to that of an Ordinary Member provided that the Associate Member, who in the opinion of the Council, had during the two years as an Associate Member, observed the provisions of the Rules of the Association (as maybe amended from time to time) and all other rules, regulations and By-laws of the Association for the time being in force. Ordinary Members shall have full power to vote at all Association meetings.
(ii) The applicant company or firm is required to demonstrate its professional competence as an organization concerned primarily with providing strategic advice on marketing communications, creating and/or placing advertising. Such services can include or represent, specialization in consumer or business advertising, media placement, direct marketing, creative consultancy or recruitment advertising.
(iii) It must show that it maintains an independent judgement in professional matters, and is not directly or indirectly controlled by an advertiser or group of advertisers whose advertising it handles; or by concerns wholly or mainly interested in the sale of advertising media or services.
(iv) The applicant should have been in business long enough to have established its experience and financial stability.
(v) Any applicant for Ordinary Membership shall have a paid up capital of Ringgit Fifty Thousand (RM50,000) and where an Associate Member is upgraded to an Ordinary Member it shall increase its paid up capital to Ringgit Fifty Thousand (RM50,000) from the date that the Council approves the upgrading of the Member
(vi) The applicant must satisfy such other admission criteria applicable to Ordinary Members as determined by the Association.
