Steven Cheok Hou Cher 

Steven is an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Hons) Degree from University of London, United Kingdom. Steven’s main area of practice is commercial disputes, intellectual property litigation and enforcement, and litigation with special interest in media and telecommunication. 

Steven worked with one of the largest and oldest firm in Malaysia between 2006 and 2012 before joining a boutique IP firm in KL between 2012 to 2015. He thereafter joined one of South East Asia’s largest legal network between late 2015 to 2024, specializing in both litigious and non-litigious intellectual property matters where he assisted and represented clients, in relation to disputes relating to patents, copyright, privacy and trade secrets, trade mark, industrial designs, advertising and domain name and also various aspects of enforcement of intellectual property rights. Over the years, he has represented many multi-nationals in commercial litigation and intellectual property enforcement matters. 

Apart from being fluent in both English and Malay language, Steven is also fluent in written and spoken Chinese, and has vast experience dealing with China based clients, assisting and advising them on various matters including investment agreements, regulatory compliance, drafting and reviewing of commercial agreements, etc, as well as linking local clients who are interested in investing in China with local legal experts for their legal needs and requirements. 

Steven is also experienced in general corporate advisory work and has vast experience in advising, reviewing and drafting of commercial agreements including licensing agreements, franchise agreements amongst others. 

Sri Sarguna Raj 

Sri heads the Intellectual Property, Media, Sports, and Gaming laws practice group at Adnan Sundra & Low (ASL), and focuses on intellectual property, media, technology, privacy, and data protection, as well as sports and gaming laws in relation to both contentious and non-contentious work. 

 
Sri’s main area of practice is intellectual property law, in relation to both contentious and non-contentious work. He assists and represents clients in relation to disputes relating to patents, copyright, privacy and trade secrets, trademarks, industrial designs, information technology, technology, media, advertising and domain names and also various aspects of enforcement of intellectual property rights. Over the years, he has represented many multinational companies from diverse range of sectors in litigation and in managing and implementing anti-piracy and anti-counterfeiting programmes for them. 
 
His non-litigation work includes drafting and advising on intellectual property (IP) issues in corporate and commercial transactions, particularly in relation to information technology, licensing, franchising, regulatory advice, sports, gaming, media, entertainment, sponsorship, and merchandising. Sri also assists clients in the registration and protection of IP rights. 

 
In addition, Sri has also acted and succeeded in the first contested adjudication before the Communications and Multimedia Content Forum (CMCF) in respect of a broadcast advertisement for a leading global oil company. 

 
Sri holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from King’s College London, United Kingdom. He was awarded the Malaysian Law Scholarship 1999, which is a full scholarship awarded by University of London to read law at King’s College London for the 2nd and 3rd year of the LLB degree. 

 
Sri continues to be named in leading legal directories, including ranked as a Tier 1 Intellectual Property lawyer by Asia Pacific Legal 500, recognised as an “IP Star” by Managing Intellectual Property, and recognised as “Litigation Star” by Benchmark Litigation. Sri was also recognised as one of the “Top 40 Under 40” legal professionals in Asia in the year 2017 by Asian Legal Business. 

 
Sri is the immediate Past President of the Sports Law Association of Malaysia (SLAM) and the Licensing Executives Society of Malaysia (LESM). He is also a member of the Results Management Committee of the Anti-Doping Agency of Malaysia (ADAMAS). He is a panel member of the Asian Sports Tribunal.
