Creative Directors ascend to their position on the strength of their ideation and past work, but discover that, once there, they need to develop a whole new skill set to lead their teams. Furthermore, their role extends to dealing directly with clients and selling creative work.

How the learning is delivered and assessed

Day one of the workshop focuses on developing the mindset of a coach (as the key to managing creatives is a shift in values and belief systems).

Day two is about instilling an understanding and confidence in the key skills of selling creative work. It focuses on the psychology and neuroscience of selling.

Both days will be highly participatory and entertaining, involving discussion and activities. The intent will be to work with typical everyday issues that face the delegates, so they can address them when they return to their workplace.

Paul is a psychologist by training. To get into advertising he took a slightly lateral approach. Turning his slight stutter into a positive, by promoting himself on a sandwich board, threatening to stand outside of the top twenty agencies until he got a job. Following nationwide TV & press coverage, he was hired by Saatchi & Saatchi where he stayed for 14 years, before being head hunted to run the global toothpaste business for GlaxoSmithKline out of Grey advertising.
